We'd been waiting for this big moment for several months. The start of the clay-court season in Europe. And it kicks off in the exceptional setting of the Principality of Monaco. A beautiful Masters 1000 as we like them, with intense matches and hopefully some good weather. Carlos Alcaraz has only been to the Rock once before, in 2022 just after his victory in Miami, and was quickly eliminated. Last year, he was forced to withdraw. This year, he's back, hopefully more motivated than ever, and without the physical problems needed to shine (yesterday he trained with a bandage on his right arm). His 1st meeting is scheduled against Canadian Felix Augier-Alliasime, who is trying to get back to the top level after a difficult period. Although Carlitos has made Roland Garros his main objective for the season, along with the Olympic Games, and is still hoping to play doubles with Rafa Nadal (who had to withdraw for Monaco), he is hoping to shine in his first match and show off all his power and skill. His many fans are waiting impatiently for him, and would be delighted to see him do well in this beautiful tournament. For the moment, the Canadian leads 3-2 in their direct confrontation, even if recent encounters have been to the Murcian's advantage. So, let's hope it's a good match to launch a great season for the Spanish player, who celebrates his 21st birthday on May 05.
Vamos Carlitos!
